Welke vorm van filtratie kan worden toegepast en welke het meest geschikt is, is afhankelijk van de omstandigheden en de eisen die worden gesteld aan het water.

]]> Ontijzering https://besa-water.com/technieken/ontijzering/ Thu, 07 Apr 2022 12:20:09 +0000 https://besa-water.com/?post_type=technieken&p=1482 Voordat grondwater als voedingswater kan worden ingezet voor de proceswater bereiding dient het primair eerst te worden ontdaan van opgeloste zware metalen zoals ijzer en mangaan. Deze processen vinden plaats in een ontijzeringsinstallatie. Door het (anaerobe) grondwater intensief in contact te brengen met lucht oxideren de opgeloste zware metalen tot metaalhydroxides. Deze kunnen vervolgens worden afgefiltreerd in het bed van de ontijzeringsinstallatie. In het filterbed zelf vinden nog diverse biologische processen plaats waarbij onder andere ammoniak wordt omgezet, wat nitrificatie wordt genoemd.

Methaan en ammoniak
In moerasgebieden is methaan in het grondwater aanwezig, wat is ontstaan door de anaerobe omzetting van plantenresten. De omzetting van methaan, maar ook die van ammoniak in het ontijzeringsproces vergt erg veel zuurstof waardoor een toestand van zuurstofloosheid in het bed kan ontstaan. Bij hoge concentraties aan methaan en ammoniak wordt het water dan ook voorbehandeld. Al naar gelang de omstandigheden kan worden gekozen voor het toepassen van een droogfilter of een platenbeluchter.

 

Eenvoudig maar toch complex
Aan de buitenzijde van een ontijzerings installatie doet het geheel wellicht eenvoudig aan, maar het proces van ontijzeren kan dus een erg complex mechanisme zijn, door de aanwezigheid van één of meerdere storende componenten.

Het productwater van een omgekeerde osmose installatie bevat aan de basis geen bacteriën en micro-organismen meer, omdat deze door het membraanelement worden tegengehouden. Echter, door eventuele aanwezige verontreiniging in de opslag en of distributie al dan niet in combinatie met de temperatuur van het water, kunnen zich organische microverontreinigingen gaan vormen. Als oplossing hiervoor kan het productwater worden rondgepompt en waarbij een UV desinfectiestap een toegevoegde waarde kan leveren.

Desinfectie bijproducten
Het voordeel van het gebruik van UV straling ten opzichte van andere oxidatieve middelen zoals vrij chloor is dat er geen schadelijke bijproducten kunnen ontstaan. Bovendien is het veiliger en eenvoudiger voor de gebruiker dan het toepassen van een doseer installatie.

Het verschil zit in de manier waarop het water wordt behandeld. Bij omgekeerde osmose wordt een druk gebruikt om het water door een membraanelement te persen en dat is dus een mechanisch proces. Bij demineralisatie worden de aanwezige zouten (gesplitst in ionen) in het water uitgewisseld tegen andere die minder schadelijk zijn. Als intermediair worden kunststof harskorrels toegepast. De zouten en mineralen worden uit het water gehaald = demineralisatie.

  • Bereiding ketelvoedingswater.
  • Bereiding proceswater onder andere voor frisdrank producenten en bier brouwerijen.
  • Bereiding demiwater.

]]> Omgekeerde osmose techniek https://besa-water.com/technieken/omgekeerde-osmose-techniek/ Thu, 07 Apr 2022 12:18:11 +0000 https://besa-water.com/?post_type=technieken&p=1478 Omgekeerde osmose techniek wordt gebruikt om naast de hardheid ook de overige zouten en mineralen uit het water te verwijderen. Dit biedt bij toepassingen als ketelvoedingswater voordelen omdat hierdoor de spui behoorlijk wordt vermindert. Het water wordt nu voor de stoomketel al gespuid als concentraat van de omgekeerde osmose installatie, maar deze waterstroom hoeft niet te worden verwarmd. Er wordt dus veel minder aardgas gebruikt voor het stoombedrijf. Bijkomend voordeel is dat er minder chemie voor conditionering van het ketelwater nodig is en de opgewekte stoom minder agressief is, omdat het water minder kooldioxide (CO2) bevat.

Voorbehandeling
Membraan elementen zijn erg kwetsbaar voor vervuiling, denk aan de aanwezigheid van zwevende stoffen en de hardheidszouten. Het is dus verstandig om de voorbehandeling de nodige aandacht te geven. 

De zwevende stoffen worden afgevangen door middel van een filterkaars. Om problemen met hardheidszouten te voorkomen wordt er vaak gekozen uit twee oplossingen. Namelijk die van het gebruik van een waterontharder en die van het doseren van een hardheidsstabilisator (anti scalent).

 

Hergebruik concentraat
In veel gevallen kan de ingedikte concentraatstroom* van de omgekeerde osmose installatie opnieuw worden ingezet. Denk aan gebruik als spoelwater voor vloer en voertuigen. Een andere oplossing is om de concentraatstroom opnieuw te behandelen met een tweede omgekeerde osmose installatie. Het voordeel hiervan is dat er minder voedingswater wordt ingenomen en dat de milieubelasting van de gebruiker wordt vermindert. Denk aan een lagere CO2 voetprint.

Denk aan de kalkafzetting bij verwarmen zoals in stoomketels en verdampen in koeltorens. De meest effectieve manier van ontharding is die van het gebruik van sterkzure ionenwisselaarhars (kunststof harskorrels). Wanneer water over een bed met deze ionenwisselaarhars wordt gebracht zal de hardheid – bestaande uit calcium en magnesium – worden afgevangen op de korrel. Wanneer alle harskorrels bezet zijn met calcium en magnesium worden deze elementen er weer af gewassen met een verzadigde pekeloplossing wat regenereren wordt genoemd. De installatie is nu opnieuw gereed voor productie.

 

Controle waterontharder
Voor de controle van de werking van de ontharder installatie wordt veelal een inline monitor gebruikt die periodiek de resthardheid van het productwater meet.
